Location

Amherstburg is strategically located in Essex County in the extreme Southwestern corner of Ontario and is situated on the west bank of the Detroit River at the mouth of Lake Erie.

The Town has easy access to:

  • Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway
  • Highway 401
  • Highway 3
  • Ambassador Bridge and the Gordie Howe International Bridge, connecting to the United States interstate highway system
  • Two international airports – Windsor International Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Airport

The Town of Amherstburg offers a Community Improvement Plan designed to attract both commercial and industrial developments. Amherstburg boasts over 200 acres of shovel-ready industrial land with rail access.

The mission of the Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce is to positively impact the growth and prosperity of the Amherstburg business community.

Tourism and recreation

Amherstburg is deemed as one of the prettiest and oldest communities in southwestern Ontario. Rare architecture and authentic buildings line the streets with history in this War of 1812 community.

The Libro Credit Union Centre is a modern recreation complex that is a fully accessible facility achieving LEED certification and is a model of excellence for the residents to enjoy.

Craft Beer and Wine

Amherstburg is home to some of Ontario's award-winning wineries that are rich in family heritage and tradition. Family owned and operated craft breweries are popping up in town including GL Heritage Brewing Co. and Lot 10 Brewing Company.
