Over the last few years, Invest WindsorEssex (IWE) has conducted several regional studies identifying the next generation economy through sector diversification, skilled workforce and ecosystem development. Windsor-Essex is a natural choice for next generation EV investment and we are thrilled to welcome the Stellantis | LG Energy Solutions battery manufacturing plant venture, NextStar Energy, to our region.
IWE is proud to have supported this $5 billion investment that will secure thousands of direct and indirect future jobs for Windsor-Essex. This investment in innovative technologies, will help strengthen the economy and protect good quality local jobs for the region. Electric vehicle battery manufacturing in Windsor-Essex will also boost Ontario’s robust auto parts supply chain and skilled workforce and help meet the global demand for low-carbon auto production.
