Windsor-Essex is home to several major research facilities and institutes of higher education, as well as many facilities and programs that enable career based training. With several strategic initiatives linking higher education and workforce development, it's no wonder our area's post-secondary programs are internationally recognized.

University of Windsor

University of Windsor 360-Degree Video

The University of Windsor enrols 16,000 students and ranks among Canada's highest percentage of international students. Offering 190 undergraduate programs, 65 graduate programs and six professional programs, its eight faculties include science, engineering (with 1,719 undergrad and 792 graduate students), arts, humanities and social sciences, law, education, nursing, human kinetics and graduate studies.

The University of Windsor features a downtown campus located in heritage buildings at the city centre, including the Centre for Executive and Professional Education, the School of Social Work and the School of Creative Arts (film production, music and fine arts). It also features the brand new Essex Centre of Research (CORe), a state-of-the-art facility that accommodates researchers, research labs, instrumentation rooms and meeting rooms and is dedicated to research in biology, materials chemistry, health and medical physics.

Taking advantage of the busiest border crossing in North America, the university hosts programs in partnerships with U.S. schools, such as the University of Michigan and Wayne State University.

Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering and Innovation

The university's Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering and Innovation is a state-of-the-art automotive manufacturing, design, testing and materials research centre. The 300,000 sq ft facility features electrical and computer systems engineering, including hybrid drive laboratories, as well as green energy, alternative fuels, wind tunnels and vehicle thermal management labs.

Fiat Chrysler Canada Automotive Research and Development Centre

The Fiat Chrysler Canada (FCA) Automotive Research and Development Centre (ARDC) is a first-of-its-kind partnership between the automotive industry and academia. Dedicated to research and development, the ARDC has a direct role in the product design and engineering of nearly every product in FCA Global Engineering's portfolio. Students get hands-on industrial experience in automotive innovation while working with industry experts.

St. Clair College

St. Clair College 360-Degree Video

Established in 1967, St. Clair College provides higher education for 13,000 full-time students on four campuses located in Windsor and Chatham. The college offers more than 120 advanced diplomas, degrees and graduate certificates focused in health, technology and trades, business and IT, media arts and social services.

Also home to a unique journalism program, the college's "mediaplex" facility aids students by simulating modern day newsrooms and focusing on convergence journalism - the delivery of news across print, television, radio and web. The building features cameras, editing suites, sound booths, teleprompters and other state-of-the-art tools.

Centre for Applied Health Sciences

About one-third of the college's students are in the health sciences, taking advantage of the cutting-edge, 100,000 sq ft Centre for Applied Health Sciences, designed to simulate a real hospital environment and featuring specialized labs for ultrasound, cardiovascular technology, respiratory therapy, fully equipped simulated patient-care suites and a simulation retail pharmacy.

Ford Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing

The school's Ford Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing delivers high-quality research and training for the engineering and manufacturing technology industry. This state-of-the-art teaching facility gives students hands-on training, using some of the world's most sophisticated technology offered in a single college setting.

Collège Boréal

Established in 1994, Collège Borèal is Windsor's only French language post-secondary institution and offers a wide range of post-secondary programs, including language instruction for newcomers to Canada, an Academic Career Entrance program and French as a Second Language Certificate.

With eight post-secondary programs and seven non-degree training programs, the corporate branch is always eager to create partnerships with private firms and community organizations.

triOS College

triOS College is one of Canada's largest career training organizations, with 10 campuses throughout Ontario that offer diploma programs in high-demand areas, such as business, technology, healthcare, law and supply chain. Instructors are qualified professionals with industry-specific expertise, giving students access to real-world knowledge and insight.

Customizable training

The college's Continuing Education program offers employers customizable training solutions to help develop their workforce. Courses are tailored to specific industries and business goals.

Canadian College of Health, Science and Technology

Locally owned in Windsor, the Canadian College of Health, Science and Technology (CCHST) is the only career college in southwestern Ontario specializing exclusively in healthcare, business information, information technology and green energy programs. Students are provided with a well-rounded education that combines academics and skills-training with real-world experience.

The college is also registered as a Private Career College under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005, and is a member of the National Association of Career Colleges and Career Colleges Ontario).
