Convoy Technologies drives innovation to Windsor-Essex with grand opening

Invest WindsorEssex was pleased to join Convoy Technologies, a leading provider of advanced safety and monitoring solutions for commercial vehicles, in celebrating the grand opening of their new 18,000 sq. ft. Canadian manufacturing facility in the Town of Tecumseh. This $17-million investment further strengthens Windsor-Essex as a hub for cutting-edge manufacturing and mobility innovation. As part of this investment, the Province of Ontario is providing $323,984 in funding support through the Regional Development Program, Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, supporting the creation of 35 to 50 new jobs in the region. 

Invest WindsorEssex’s Investment Attraction team together with the Town of Tecumseh began working with Convoy Technologies in September 2022, assisting with data analysis, navigating the manufacturing ecosystem, identifying potential sites, and connecting them to regional supports. Over the next five years, Convoy plans to invest an additional $2 to 4 million in facility upgrades, expand its workforce, and launch new innovative products. READ MORE

We are delighted that this year’s Keynote speaker is Lisa Lortie, Vice President of RAM LD Planning at Stellantis. Lisa is responsible to ensure long range plans are consistent with corporate objectives as well as core model and industrial strategies and leads cross functionally with Engineering, Brand, Finance and extended teams to evolve existing programs and develop new programs. She is tasked with developing plans that achieve targets including market coverage, value creation and corporate profitability while considering all of the constraints and optimizing expenses and synergies.

Women in Mobility Peer Group connects at the IWE VR Lab

Invest WindsorEssex was pleased to welcome WEtech Alliance’s Women in Mobility peer group for an exclusive tour of the IWE Virtual Reality (VR) Lab – one of Canada’s most advanced VR facilities powered by VIROO

The group experienced immersive demonstrations showcasing how VR is transforming workforce training and the future of mobility. Members explored health and safety training in a simulated manufacturing environment and even assembled an EV battery using virtual tools. 

The session also highlighted the Battery Boost Technical Training Program, offering participants valuable insights into hands-on experiences that are helping build skilled talent for the growing battery manufacturing sector in Windsor-Essex. Learn more about the Women in Mobility Peer Group

Windsor debuts region’s first electric Glutton Zen Sweeper as part of revitalization plan

The City of Windsor has officially introduced the region’s first fully electric Glutton Zen sidewalk sweeper as part of its ongoing Strengthen the Core: Downtown Windsor Revitalization Plan. This move underscores the City’s commitment to creating a cleaner, greener, and more vibrant downtown. READ MORE 

Facts about the GluttonZen: 

  • It’s a 100 per cent electric vacuum, built compactly for areas that traditional sweepers can’t access, like sidewalks, pathways and alleyways.
  • Its silent, emission-free operation reduces disruption for residents and businesses while advancing Windsor’s environmental goals.
