WINDSOR-ESSEX, ONT. (March 1, 2025) — The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre (SBEC), a division of Invest WindsorEssex, is proud to announce the launch of the New Start Ventures program, a unique initiative designed to support newcomer entrepreneurs in Windsor-Essex.
New Start Ventures aims to equip newcomers with the essential knowledge, skills, mentorship and resources needed to successfully start and grow their businesses in Canada. The program is made possible through generous funding from Libro Credit Union, and is supported by ecosystem partner Community Futures Essex County.
Through a comprehensive series of training sessions, advisory support and networking opportunities, New Start Ventures will provide step-by-step guidance tailored to the unique needs of immigrant entrepreneurs. Participants will also gain access to expert advisors, group mentorship and networking events that foster connections with industry leaders and other entrepreneurs.
The New Start Ventures program is aimed at permanent residents and Convention Refugees who have been in Canada for fewer than five years and are interested in launching or expanding a new business in Windsor-Essex. The program will be offered twice in 2025, with the first cohort starting March 31.
Newcomers play a vital role in driving economic development and contribute significantly to job creation and entrepreneurship in Canada. By addressing common barriers such as access to business knowledge, financial resources and networking opportunities, New Start Ventures will help aspiring newcomer entrepreneurs turn their business ideas into reality.
Libro Credit Union, a strong advocate for financial resilience and community impact, is committed to supporting initiatives that drive local economic growth.
