Local software firm Picsume will receive government funding, services and tax incentives worth around $600,000 in partnership with the University of Windsor and Lambton College to advance research on its award-winning platform that improves how job seekers and employers connect.

The company will receive services and funding of up to $141,980 from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program, tax incentives of $112,720 through Scientific Research and Experimental Development and is in the final stages of securing up to an additional $450,000 through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) in collaboration with the University of Windsor and Lambton College.

“This funding marks a major milestone for Picsume as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in hiring,” said Picsume CEO Jordan Goure.

“The support from NRC IRAP allows us to refine and expand our platform’s capabilities, while our collaboration with the University of Windsor and Lambton College ensures we stay ahead with research-driven, impactful solutions for employers and job seekers alike.”

The funding will be used to expand Picsume’s capabilities in non-bias hiring algorithms, automation and advanced analytics.

The partnership with the two post-secondary institutions will focus on advancing machine learning applications in recruitment, optimizing predictive analytics for candidate success and exploring new methodologies for workforce data intelligence.

With these investments, Picsume is set to roll out a series of enhancements aimed at making hiring faster, fairer and more data-driven.

The company said the improvement will allow employers to benefit from greater automation in job matching and compliance, while job seekers will gain access to more transparent and skill-focused hiring opportunities.

The funding is the second major investment Picsume has landed in recent months.

Local tech entrepreneur Jeremy Brown, who co-founded Contractors Compliance before selling the firm, invested $1 million in Picsume last October.

Picsume also recently partnered with the Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association to provide its services to the hospitality industry.
