Invest WindsorEssex’s Investment Attraction team had the opportunity to attend the InterBattery 2025, the premier battery industry exhibition in Seoul, South Korea, which brought together over 640+ companies showcasing the latest advancements in battery technology. Our booth highlighted Windsor-Essex, home to NextStar Energy, Canada’s first battery manufacturing plant and the fastest-growing EV supply chain. Not just cars — LG Energy Solutions eyes construction vehicles for its battery packs

LG Energy Solution, the parent company of Windsor’s NextStar Energy Battery plant, is expanding its focus beyond electric vehicles. A memorandum of understanding with South Korea’s Doosan Bobat will see the two companies jointly develop battery pack solutions for use in construction equipment such as skid-steer loaders and excavators. This collaboration will help LG Energy Solutions tap into this vitally important sector with opportunities to extend the partnership for ground maintenance equipment and tractor applications. Windsor-Essex Economic Trade Task Force

The Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce and Invest WindsorEssex launched the Windsor-Essex Economic Trade Task Force (Windsor-Essex ETTF) to support local businesses and navigate potential economic challenges. The Windsor-Essex ETTF serves as a unified voice for economic development and trade in the region, bringing together business leaders and community stakeholders.
With Windsor-Essex’s strong ties to the automotive and manufacturing sectors and its vital role in Canada-U.S. trade, the region will face significant impacts from proposed tariffs on Canadian exports. The ETTF has been actively working to promptly collect, coordinate and provide information on strategies, programs and other remedies to alleviate the impact on the regional economy. Stay informed!
