Minth Group invests in new Windsor-Essex EV parts plant

Minth Group, a Canadian-owned global leader in automotive parts manufacturing, recently announced an investment of nearly $300 million in a new 379,415 sq. ft. facility in Windsor, Ont. This marks the first phase of a multi-building campus on 54 acres at Windsor International Airport and is expected to create 1,099 direct jobs. Invest WindsorEssex’s Investment Attraction team is proud to have supported an investment that will advance the production of components for electric and hybrid vehicles, backed by a $40 million loan from the Ontario government and incentives from the City of Windsor. Windsor unveiled restored Streetcar No. 351 at the new Michael D. Hurst Legacy Park

The City of Windsor celebrated the grand opening of the Legacy Beacon along with the unveiling of Streetcar No. 351 at the new Michael D. Hurst Legacy Park, marking a significant milestone in the city’s efforts to preserve its transportation heritage. Built in 1918 and once part of the Sandwich, Windsor and Amherstburg railway fleet, the streetcar was retired in the 1930s and later repurposed as a bait shop and residence before being rediscovered in Belle River. After extensive restoration, it now resides in a glass-enclosed pavilion along riverfront, serving as a central feature of the Legacy Beacon project. This initiative is part of Windsor’s broader plan to revitalize its waterfront, integrating historical preservation with community engagement and tourism development. READ MORE | WATCH
Windsor-Essex Regional Technology Development Site attended DiscoveryX 2025

Invest WindsorEssex’s Windsor-Essex Regional Technology Development Site (WE RTDS) made great connections at Canada’s premiere innovation event, DiscoveryX 2025 hosted by Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI). The team connected with conference delegates to showcase our Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) WE RTDS programs and services, highlighting the many benefits and opportunities available in Windsor-Essex. Our collaboration in the automotive and mobility sectors continues to support and drive economic development to our region as Ontario works towards building a future with efficient, clean and sustainable transportation. More than $4.5 million for Windsor and Tecumseh’s transit

The Ontario government is allocating more than $4.5 million in gas tax funding to enhance public transit in the City of Windsor and the Town of Tecumseh. Windsor will receive approximately $4.46 million, while Tecumseh is set to receive about $176,000. This investment aims to expand service hours, increase routes, acquire new vehicles and improve accessibility. The funding is part of Ontario’s broader $380 million Gas Tax program, which assists 102 municipalities across the province in improving local transit services. READ MORE
Lakeshore launches skate park survey

What are your wheels of choice? The Municipality of Lakeshore has launched a public survey to gather community input on the future of the skate park at Optimist Park in Belle River. Residents, park users and community organizations are encouraged to participate by sharing their experiences, suggesting improvements and proposing ideas for the park’s development.
As part of the 2025 budget, Council approved $300,000 for the renovation of the skate park. Feedback from the survey will inform the planning and design of the skate park, with opportunities for further community engagement in subsequent phases. LEARN MORE | TAKE THE SURVEY
