OVIN Technology Pilot Zone at the Blue Water Bridge

The Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) has launched a Technology Pilot Zone at the Blue Water Bridge, enabling nine Ontario-based small and medium-sized enterprises to test advanced automotive and mobility technologies in real-world conditions. The initiative aims to enhance safety, reduce traffic wait times and promote the adoption of cleaner transportation technologies. LEARN MORE  

 
The OVIN Technology Pilot Zones offers the perfect opportunity to test your solution in real-world urban and cross-border environments. With up to $100,000 in funding available, this program supports the piloting of next-generation technologies that can shape the future of transportation. Early bird registration open for Emerging Technologies 2025

Early bird registration is now open until July 31 for both exhibitors and attendees of the Emerging Technologies in Automation Conference and Trade Show, taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025. This premier event, hosted by Invest WindsorEssex, is your most effective method of connecting with automation companies, experts in advanced manufacturing and potential new suppliers of cutting-edge technologies.  

New this year, the conference now includes the Mobility Transformation Conference at no additional cost, attendees and exhibitors now have access to two conferences combined. Windsor auto shop owner transforms car parts into creative sculptures

Peter Solly, local owner of MacDonald’s Auto Repair & Maintenance Shop, is renowned for crafting life-sized sculptures from salvaged car parts. These unique artworks have become a local landmark, blending automotive artistry with community spirit. In May, Peter had the remarkable opportunity to personally present Jay Leno with a life-sized sculpture he crafted entirely from recycled automotive parts. READ MORE 
 
One of Solly’s standout pieces is a sculpture honoring hockey legend Gordie Howe and the Gordie Howe International Bridge, merging elements of the bridge with a tin-sized Howe holding Canadian and American-flagged hockey sticks. His work not only highlights his creative talent but also reflects the rich automotive heritage of the city if Windsor. WATCH

WE RTDS attends Electric Autonomy’s EV Charging Expo

Invest WindsorEssex’s Ed Dawson, executive director, Automobility and Innovation, along with Mackenzie Habash, senior program manager, recently participated in Electric Autonomy’s EV Charging Expo 2025, an event our OVIN Windsor-Essex Regional Technology Development Site (WE RTDS) team looks forward to each year for its cutting-edge insights into electrification and the future of mobility. The event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with innovative companies, explore emerging technologies and share information about the resources and support WE RTDS has to offer.

Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Clair College Sportsplex. The event is organized by the Windsor Essex Soap Derby Racing Association in collaboration with Fantastic Fathers. Whether you’re a racer, a parent, or a spectator, the Fantastic Fathers Soapbox Derby offers a unique way to celebrate Father’s Day weekend in Windsor-Essex. LEARN MORE 

Maidstone Museum 1st Annual Vintage Invitational Car Show
